Pilates exercises: The Corkscrew
The Corkscrew is one of the most important exercises in Pilates and it features in the book by Mr. Joseph Pilates “Back to life through Contrology”.

This is a brief explanation on what the Corkscrew exercise is and how it is performed to strengthen and profile the abdominals. We have to start lying face up and with legs stretched toward the ceiling. The arms, by contrast, remain stretched but beside the body, while the hands must be kept firmly supported on the floor. Draw circles in the air around the waist with your legs firmly together. Thus, we not only work the abs, but also arms, back and waist.
